Bio

Hi, I’m Amy Clare Fontaine!  I have a master’s degree in biology from North Carolina State University and a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology (with a minor in English writing) from California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. I’ve studied hyenas in Kenya, wolves in the United States, and hyraxes in Israel.

A member of the Furry Writers’ Guild and winner of the Leo Literary Award, I write fantasy, science fiction, poetry, and games—about animals, magic, shapeshifters, outer space, love, adventure, and a menagerie of other things. In addition to writing and researching animals, I spend my time roaming wild places, playing guitar, doodling, stargazing, and learning as much as I can. As a practicing Christian (emphasis on the “practicing” part, as we are all works in progress), I care deeply about connecting with God and making the world a better place.

These days, the place I call home is a lovely town called McKinleyville in northern California, but I’ve been known to wander the globe.

Thank you for your interest in my work!
